FAQs
What is R-Fusion?
R-Fusion is R-HPC's service line offering virtual private clusters, providing security protection within its own utilization. R-Fusion provides the powerful HPC resources you need, when you need them, with first-hand access to technical professionals (R-Team) who will assist you with HPC configuration and implementation.Who is R-Fusion for?
R-Fusion is ideal for commercial and academic researchers who want to utilize newer systems or have internal systems which periodically experience bottlenecks. We understand the computing challenges facing IT managers and their departments and will interface with your internal IT staff to tailor all R-Fusion clusters to your specific applications, objectives, and deadlines. What sets R-Fusion services apart from other HPC models?
Our distinctive Service as a Service (SVaaS) model combines high-level technical support with personal hands-on guidance from system design to the implementation of your application and code — at no additional charge. Our HPC experts can even show you how to optimize your internal systems to improve performance. In addition, we also configure R-Fusion clusters for client-owned hardware and for R-Fusion-owned hardware at client locations. We will interface with your internal IT staff to tailor all R-Fusion clusters to your specific applications, objectives, and deadlines. Tailored by R-HPC to provide maximum performance for your specific computing requirements, R-Fusion is ideal for accessing industry leading technology at a fraction of the cost of implementing and managing comparable systems internally. What is the R-Fusion Infrastructure?
All R-Fusion infrastructure is housed in our two data centers. All systems are company-owned and utilize the latest in industry-leading technology. The R-Fusion infrastructure includes AMD and Intel HPC clusters with the choice of GigE or Infiniband networking. How many CPU cores are available for any one customer?
Cluster resources by core count are limited only by the amount of physical resources we have available at the time of the request, but advanced scheduling helps ensure that the maximum number of cores will be available for your use. Availability of cores is determined by usage demand and is not guaranteed outside of a user contract with R-HPC.Can you meet special customer hardware requirements?
Yes! Every R-Fusion system is configured specifically for each client for their specific compute needs in a truly agnostic environment. How do you handle transfer of user data into/out of the R-Fusion infrastructure?
Our facility has the bandwidth needed to allow the transfer of reasonably large data files directly to or from R-Fusion systems over the Internet. R-Fusion also includes a no-charge “R-Data” service that allows the transfer of files overnight. Are SLAs specified as part of the service contract?
Yes, all Service Level Agreements are tailored to the usage and security needs of each R-Fusion customer. We have no “blanket” approach when it comes to structuring SLAs.What is the software environment for R-Fusion?
The R-Fusion software environment is continually updated to remain current and provide the latest tools to our users. The latest HPC software applications can be integrated seamlessly, so you can quickly replicate the same configurations used on your internal systems. And as components are unbundled, you can select the exact levels of CPU, memory, storage, and bandwidth you need to seamlessly integrate with your current internal systems. Clients can also bring their own code to build on R-Fusion.How is security handled on R-Fusion?
R-Fusion knows that security and privacy are one of your top concerns when it comes to using external HPC resources. We utilize strong security policies and best practices to protect your data, provide network access only to authorized users, and identity security to ensure any access is properly validated. Our policies and best practices ensure the security of your data while it's on your dedicated and private R-Fusion system. How is R-Fusion billed?
R-Fusion has a choice of inclusive pricing options to fit your needs, with no annual fees or additional up-charges for data transfers, standard storage, and networking options. R-Fusion charges on a dedicated 24/7 price per core hour and is generally invoiced on a monthly basis.
